I’ve been playing football all my life and now I begin to feel pain in my right knee cap. I know its an overuse injury but specifically i’m not sure whats causing it. The pain is at its worst if I lay on my back with my legs in the air but bent at the knee, so my knee joint is supporting my lower leg which would be parallel to the floor. Any ideas on if this would be ligaments, tendons, meniscus, synovial fluid, cartilage etc?

A podiatrist told me, after X-Rays were taken, that I had no cartilage left in the joints of my big toes, but offered no solution. There is a surgery that could be performed, with no promises, and it would not be covered by health insurance (of course!).

would like to hear about any thing that might help joint pain/rebuild cartilage after extensive shoulder surgery.

I’ve heard both sides of the argument. 1) it’s just air escaping from between the joints 2) it’s tendon’s and/or cartilage snapping into an awkward position and wearing down. …. my personal opinion is that it must be fine, it’s almost exactly what Chiropractors do… just in your fingers… and besides sometimes it happens in other areas of the body… so, it must be natural… right?

My mother has arthritis in both knees. Her cartilage has worn out and now she suffers from severe pain in both of her knees. She is already taking prescription medications for it which don’t seem to help. She took shots in both of her knees to help with the pain but after a few months it wears off.

If you are suffering from very bad arthritis and you get relief somehow, please do share with me how you get relief.

I love eating the cartilage off of chicken bones and beef steak (don’t ask, I just like cleaning all the edible parts off). I’ve been wondering if eating cartilage from meaty foods is any help with the cartilage in my joints. Will I be less likely to develop arthritis?
2009: Keep that up and I’ll eat YOU. :P

I like to jog with my beagle mix 3 times a week. I would love to jog with her every day, but i am afraid of wearing down her joints and cartilage. Is there a good natural supplement out there that I could start her on now to avoid future problems. she is 9 months old.
